Your First Visit
New patients
Your first visit to our office will include necessary digital x-rays, evaluation for the presence of gum disease, cancer screening and a comprehensive hard tissue examination, for the detection of decay. This will be followed by a consultation explaining your diagnosis and treatment options.
IMPORTANT: If a patient is under the age of 18 a parent or guardian must accompany them.
There may be times when treatment can occur on the same day as the consultation. However, if there is a complex medical history or treatment plan, a second appointment will be required for further evaluation and treatment. Please provide the following information at the time of your visit:
- Any X-rays (if applicable)
- A list of your current medical prescription
- Completed forms for medical or dental insurance. This will save time during your first visit and allow us to help you process any claims
It is important to inform the office if you have any medical conditions that may be of concern prior to surgery ( i.e. mitral valve prolapse, diabetes, high blood pressure,
artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are taking any medications ( i.e. heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, etc.).
X-rays
We have incorporated a digital x-ray process, which allows us to reduce the amount of radiation exposure to the patient by 90 percent. You may request that previously taken x-rays (by a previous dentist or physician) be forwarded to our office or you may pick them up and bring them to your first visit. If it is determined that additional films are necessary, they can be taken at our facility.
